Every quarter, 14 named operators re-score the 88 tools in each category against a 312-point rubric we publish openly. This page is the rubric — and the humans who keep it.
Top88Sites does not rank software by traffic, by backlink count, or by what pays the highest affiliate fee. Every list is rebuilt quarterly by a panel of 14 working operators — former product, growth, and RevOps leads from HubSpot, Intercom, Stripe, Notion, Linear, and others — who score each vendor on a 312-point rubric we choose to publish in full.
We do this so that a growth lead evaluating a CRM, or a product manager choosing an analytics tool, can audit the criteria by name, weight, and reviewer before they trust the shortlist. The methodology below is the trust engine. The rankings downstream are its output.

The 312 points are grouped into six pillars. The weights below are fixed across every category we publish — CRM, analytics, helpdesk, and beyond — so a tool ranked #12 in marketing automation can be benchmarked against the tool ranked #1 in helpdesk on the same axes.
How well the product matches the workflows of a working growth team — onboarding time to first value, surface area for non-technical operators, and how the tool behaves at 10× scale.
Native, bidirectional integrations with the rest of the modern SaaS stack — CRM, warehouse, support, billing. We score documented API quality, webhook coverage, and partner-directory maintenance.
Public pricing pages, per-seat clarity, no hidden implementation fees, and an honest quote-to-invoice path. Vendors who require a sales call before publishing a number are docked.
First-response time on paid plans, escalation paths to engineers, and the share of support tickets resolved without a customer-engineer handoff. Median over the trailing 90 days.
Public changelog cadence, shipped-versus-announced ratio, and the proportion of roadmap items that survive a quarterly cycle without being silently rescoped.
Verified growth in production teams — paying-customer count, third-party review velocity, and the share of inbound mentions originating from named operator accounts.
A representative slice of the 14-member operator panel. Each reviewer signs their scoring sheet, conflicts of interest are disclosed on every list page, and no operator scores a category in which they hold equity or a current vendor relationship.

Former growth lead at Linear and Notion; managed a 90-person marketing-org budget across paid, lifecycle, and PLG motions. Reviews marketing-automation and lifecycle tooling.
Ten additional operators round out the panel across remaining categories. Full reviewer roster, bios, and disclosed conflicts of interest appear on every individual list page.
“Deloitte Digital's 2023 review of the Top88Sites ranking process confirmed that the 312-point rubric is applied uniformly across vendors, that panel conflicts are disclosed prior to scoring, and that 84% of vendor submissions are rejected before evaluation. The integrity controls observed are consistent with leading research-publication standards.”
Rankings are timestamped, not evergreen. The cadence below applies to all 64 published categories — the CRM list you read on a Tuesday in March is not the same list you would have read in December.
Open call goes out to vendors, readers, and analysts. Roughly 1,200 nominations per cycle; 84% are filtered at this stage for category fit, minimum operational footprint, and current availability.
The 14 operators score every remaining vendor against the 312-point rubric. Each scoring sheet is signed, version-controlled, and stored for the audit trail. Conflicts of interest are logged before scoring begins.
Top 30 vendors per category are interviewed live by the lead reviewer for their pillar. Pricing pages, roadmaps, and support metrics are verified against primary sources.
New ranking goes live on a Tuesday morning, distributed to 89,400 readers of The Shortlist. Previous quarter remains archived and timestamped for reference and auditability.
Next quarterly rebuild begins April 1, 2025. The CRM list republishes June 24, 2025.
